Sushmita Sen's style mantras

Comfort is what matters the most for Sushmita Sen who can be described as a practical dresser. She loves signature pieces and pampering herself at a spa. Here are her style mantras:

Style mantra
According to me, a person is truly stylish when he knows the trend yet manages to break them with flair. I like to dress in a simple manner. I would advise all women to dress in a simple and elegant way. A bit of drama works well as long as it's subtle. No matter how lovely an outfit looks, you will look bad if it fits you badly. So, get the right fit.

Comfort clothing
On my days off, I like to dress mostly in ganjis, skinny jeans or pajamas. A short cotton dress is another favourite. Comfort is my number one priority.

Dressing up
Comfort and fit are two must-haves for me. I won't wear the trendiest outfit in town if I feel uncomfortable in it. I believe that what you wear must complement your body type. The weather plays an important role in deciding my choice of outfit as well. I wear clothes that suit the temperature at the venue.

Best of the best
I feel that our Bollywood celebs have their individual style statements and like to dress as per their moods. Arjun Rampal comes across as stylishly dressed while Deepika Padukone dresses well even without help from a stylist. I like Sonam Kapoor for her love for fashion and the ability to take sartorial risks.

Hollywood hotties
There are so many well-dressed celebs abroad that the list is endless. However, the ones I feel are most comfortable in their own skin are Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson, Victoria Beckham and David Beckham. Their sense of style, body sculpture, clothes and poise makes them look plain beautiful.

Beauty regime
I drink lots of water and keep my skin moisturised and clean all the time. I practice Ariel Silk, a form of acrobatic exercise that keeps my blood circulation high. It helps blood rush to my face and keeps it glowing. I don't oil my hair frequently but I do keep my scalp clean. I am not fussy about it. However, since I like to keep my hair open most of the time, I pamper my tresses with a spa session once in a while.
Shining bright
I wear minimal jewellery but I want my pieces to make a statement. An item or accessory like a cocktail ring or a neckpiece looks great with a simple dress.

Fashion nightmare
It would be wearing and doing exactly the same kind of things that others are doing at that particular event or place. Lack of individuality scares me.

Bag essentials
Lip balm, floss, lip-gloss, sunglasses, house keys, chewing gum, medicines for my headache and my wallet. I travel with my whole world.

The race is not yet over for Gracy Singh?

Gracy Singh is still around and has not given up on her acting aspirations. She recently did a dance recital as part of the International Dance Day (April 29) celebrations.

After starring in the Aamir Khan-starrer Lagaan in 2001, she went on to do some utterly forgettable films.
The actress feels that after Lagaan anything she did was a huge step down. With this driving her career decisions, she realised that acting offers were scarce and went back to her classical dance shows. Though Vikram Bhatt cast her in his 2012 film Dangerous Ishhq, it did nothing to resurrect her career.

She is as svelte and stunning a mother of a two-year-old as she was when she danced to the tunes of "Chura ke dil mera". Shilpa Shetty, who was given the title of 'Spalicious Mom' at an awards event here, says she takes the awards as "compliments".

Breaking into a laughter on being congratulated for being a 'Spalicious Mom', Shilpa told IANS: "What does it mean? I have no inkling of what it means. I don't understand it really, but an award is always a compliment and so, I am happy and excited about this."

Shilpa, who co-owns spa and wellness chain IOSIS along with business partner and cosmetologist Kiran Bawa, also couldn't contain her excitement that two IOSIS outlets won an award each at the recently held seventh GeoSpa asiaSpa India awards 2013 here.

IOSIS, Shilpa said, has eight outlets so far, and nine more are in the pipeline.

Married to businessman Raj Kundra, the actress' business acumen seems to be getting stronger by the day. She says the franchise model has worked in favour of IOSIS, and that it has helped them to explore places like Benares, Lucknow, Ghaziabad and Pune, apart from some of the metros.

Kangana Ranaut: Films are not meant to make actresses look beautiful

She played a fashion disaster in 'Queen', a style victim in 'Revolver Rani' and Kangana Ranaut says she is not scared of stepping into non-glamorous roles if they offer a chance to perform reports The Indian Express.

The 27-year-old actress, who won the audience's love and critical acclaim for both of her films, says there is a misconception that heroines should look beautiful on-screen.

`Films are not meant to make people fashion-oriented or glorify their beauty. Films are about good stories and it could be of anyone. It could also be of an ugly girl,` Kangana told PTI in an interview.

Actress Sonam Kapoor had recently said in a chat show that if a person is not good looking, they are considered as good actors in Bollywood.

The National-award winning actress said rather than her looks in her last outing 'Revolver Rani', where she played a corrupt politician, Kangana was more sceptical about the genre of the film.

`'Revolver Rani' is a non-genre film and I was a bit sceptical because I know that these films are very hard to accept in the society.

`Today, the kind of age and time we are living in we should start doing some good writing because I feel that our films are very regressive and repeat the same old formula,` she added.
By Santa Banta News Network
The 'Fashion' star was in the capital to receive the actor of the year honour at an award show. The trophy was handed to her by superstar Aamir Khan.

Kangana, who seldom attends award functions said, `It's credible to be a part of this honour. I said no initially. But later I felt that I should attend this because it's not one of those filmy awards. Here, they acknowledge people on every level and from every field.`
By Santa Banta News Network
The actress is enjoying a good phase in her career and has also signed Sai Kabir's next project 'Divine Lovers' opposite Irrfan Khan.

`This is really beautiful time of my life. I have never been respected and treated like the way I am right now. People really have acknowledged what I have done. Doing good films are my priority and I like what I do,` she said.

Is this the most beautiful time of Kang's life?

Her performance in her latest movies like "Queen" and "Revolver Rani" has earned Kangana Ranaut the epithet of being Bollywood's 'rani'. She says she has been receiving respect and acknowledgment for her work like never before.

"I feel like this is a beautiful time of my life. I've never been respected or treated the way I am right now...the way people have really acknowledged what I do. It is nice," Kangana told IANS here.

Coming from Himachal Pradesh and with no film background, Kangana has made a niche for herself in Bollywood where star kids almost rule the roost.

Her choice of movies and roles has always been distinct - sample her act in "Tanu Weds Manu" vis-a-vis her role in "Revolver Rani", or "Gangster - A Love Story" or "Fashion".

As a viewer too, she prefers to watch the kind of cinema she is part of.

"I like what I do, and that's why I do them. I'd like to see something like a 'Queen', or dark drama with some humour. I like twisted cinema, and universal cinema like 'Queen' appeals to me as well," she said.

She admits the perception about her and her ability to perform has changed over the years.

"The perception has changed. But also...initially, there weren't so many great roles, and actresses were all about glamorous people, with roles where they were tortured by the world...it was all about making a stereotypical film. But there is a variety of films now, and it's great," she added.

Kangana spoke to IANS on the sidelines of the NDTV Indian of the Year Awards, where she was honoured as the Actor of the Year.

In the recent past, Kangana had stated that she has decided to say no to award ceremonies.

But she found this particular award, distributed in the capital Tuesday night, "credible".

"It is credible. First, I said no for the award, then I got a personal letter from Prannoy Roy (the channel's head honcho) and it convinced me to come here. It is not a filmy award - they award people from all fields, and that's why I came," she said.

Her happiness knew no bounds when she learned that actor-filmmaker Aamir Khan, a fan of her performance in "Queen", was going to present her the award.

"He has been a huge inspiration to me," Kangana said of Aamir, who later gave her a hug for "following her heart" in the industry.

Caught Impromptu: Ranbir and DP's 'Badtameez Dil Maane Na'

They are Bollywood's once popular lovebirds, but Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor neither seemed nervous nor uncomfortable in each other's presence and proximity at an event here Tuesday. In fact, the two ended up doing an impromptu jig!

The actors were at the Indian of the Year Awards to collect their respective honours. While Deepika received the entertainer of the year, Ranbir was awarded for being a Bollywood youth icon.

Ranbir was asked to fulfill a popular request -- to dance on one of his numbers impromptu.

Before the request came his way, he was on stage with Aamir Khan, Kangana Ranaut, Soundarya R. Ashwin and Deepika, but as the song played on, Deepika was left alone on stage, while Ranbir vanished only to drag journalist Prannoy Roy. Of course, Roy ran back to take his seat, but Deepika and Ranbir's chemistry worked up to create a picture-perfect moment as they she tried to give him cues of their signature steps.

They smiled, laughed, danced and seemed to have a jolly good time. They even pulled off some signature steps from the chartbuster, and Deepika seemed to know them better than Ranbir.

The duo's off-screen chemistry got a new direction when they played on screen lovers for the first time in "Bachna Ae Haseeno", but eventually the two parted ways after a much-publicised affair.
However, ever since their breakup, they have maintained that they are still good friends. And from what it seemed at the event Tuesday, they mean it.

They last featured on the big screen in "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani", and will soon share the frame in a new project.

What's wrong with Vidya Balan's health?

After making a no show at IIFA Awards 2014 held at US, Vidya Balan to skip the Indian film festival of Melbourne of which she is ambassador

Vidya Balan's last-minute no-show at IIFA Awards 2014 in the US - apparently due to her ill-health - has now put a question mark on her presence in Australia for a film festival.

The actress has been the ambassador of the annual Indian Film Festival of Melbourne since its inception in 2012. The festival will be held from May 1-11.

Says a source, "There were pregnancy rumours recently after she turned down Sujoy Ghosh's film, but Vidya quelled these rumours by denying that she was pregnant.

In March this year, she even travelled to the US for inter-city promotions of the event. Strangely though, just days before the ceremony in Florida, she pulled out citing health reasons."

Adds the source, "It appears that Vidya is skipping Melbourne for the festival as well due to health reasons."

B-Town folk expected to attend the festival in Melbourne include Amitabh Bachchan, Konkana Sen Sharma, Malaika Arora Khan and filmmakers Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Vijaykrishna Acharya.

The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne is a Victorian government initiative to strengthen ties between the Indian film industry and Victoria.
A spokesperson of the Mumbai representative of the festival says, "Vidya is already back from the festival. She had gone to Melbourne for the launch of it in March. The festival will be opened by Amitabh Bachchan."

Interestingly, Vidya Balan had attended the festival in 2012 and 2013 which also had several Bollywood folk in attendance. Vidya remained unavailable for comment.
